Maisie Jane Senior Models *Spring* Shoot | michigan senior photographer

written: May 1, 2016

It’s 11:01 pm. It’s a school night (and yes I am pushing 40, but still refer to the night before work, a school night.) Well I am a teacher. Anyway, my eyes are burning, my muscles are achy from the ridiculous positions I put myself in to take pictures and I’m currently eating the warm, sweaty cheese that has been sitting on my kitchen island since 4:30 today. Why? Because I’m way too excited to look at the pictures from today’s shoot with my favorite group of gals! I could easily pass out hard on my pillow or actually on my laptop keyboard right this second, but I just cannot go to bed without looking at every single last picture I snapped today of my maisie jane senior model team. Again, why? Because they are awesome and even though I am running on fumes, they give me energy that I can’t explain. Maybe it’s how each of them is so different from each other, yet can connect so easily. Or how sweet and kind they are or how silly and insanely talented they are. Whatever it is, it’s all good and being around these young ladies makes me feel alive and excited to see what my own little ones will be like as teenagers. Not that I want to rush that. Like at all!

Planning a photo shoot for a dozen girls to have their hair +make-up done as well as a couple of outfit changes is a bit tricky. This was my first shoot of this nature. Oh and speaking of nature…Mother Nature didn’t play nice either. It’s a good thing I laugh in the face of (minor) adversity. So even though I had a “bring it!” attitude, inside I was thinking, “holy crap, this is tough.”  I learned a ton of what to do better and what not to do for the next time around. I have to be honest, this did not go even remotely close to the plan in my head, but that’s the beauty of adventure. It all worked out and my #1 goal and priority of the girls having a good time was accomplished. Next time Mother Nature will give me my sunset drenched field where the warm breeze blows through my girls’ hair. I just know it.
