This here blog post is dedicated to THE TEACHER MOM. And yeah, it’s a title. And yes it deserves all caps. And SHE deserves a cape. And a bottle of wine. And a massage. And a week in some remote tropical location with endless sun and nobody, I mean NOBODY asking questions or making demands. That is what THE TEACHER MOM deserves after daily selfless serving of every student and child with whom she comes in contact. How do I know this? I too, am a TEACHER MOM. I get it. Oh I get it!

Some of us have the unique challenge of gear shifting between toddlers and teens. That’s a crazy thing to have to do each day. Word to the wise…I find that, “Bummer dude.” is a fitting response for most teen and toddler “catastrophes.” You know, like when you give a 2 year old a bowl instead of a plate and they throw themselves on the floor.

I could go on and on with the gory details of being a TEACHER MOM. However, I could also go on and on about the incredibly long list of BLESSINGS that come with this territory. Instead, I’ll sum it up like this…

THE TEACHER MOM is an overworked, underpaid, and under-appreciated phenom. Yes, phenom…according to Urban Dictionary. (one of my favorite sources ever)

To be “Phenomenal” at something, or to be a person of certain great qualities that just can’t be described. Not necessarily a prodigy, but certainly special. They posses a certain “it factor” about themselves, something that goes beyond the exterior but comes from their core and radiates out.

True phenoms exude qualities such as ambition, caring, respect, honor, integrity, and all around character. They are the people you look at and although others may not see it, you know that they are going to be big one day.”

So here’s to you TEACHER MOM. You are probably never going to be thanked properly or be “big one day.” But your hearts will always be full. Just stop for a second and think about the amount of unconditional love you have given out over the years. That all comes back to you…ten fold.

I have officially served as a TEACHER MOM for the last 7 years. I’ve had the privilege of knowing many TEACHER MOMS my whole life and had the honor of photographing some of these wonderful women in the past couple of years.

If you know a TEACHER MOM, send her some love in the form of a thank you, hug, or other kind gesture. You will make her day, I promise.

What do you love about Spring? The changing of the seasons is always so magical. Here are 10 things I absolutely love about Spring.

  1. SPRING BREAK

Yes, that’s right…This is SPRING BREAK 2016! Not exactly sun and beach, but definitely packed in the fun this week up in God’s Country (Upper Michigan).

2. BUBBLES

Aren’t they the best? I’m sure we’ll blow through a couple of gallons this spring. Always good fun.

5. SUNSHINE

The sun on our skin outside is a serious revitalizer after the winter. Loving the sun INSIDE my house too. Took these in the same day. Sunrise in the kitchen and sunset in the living room.

6. WARMER TEMPS

So good to get outside in shorts yesterday! So good.  The girls collected crystals from the driveway and stayed cool in the shade of their umbrella. Ha!!! Nice try kids.

9. FROGS, BIRDS AND SPRING SOUNDS

Waking up to the birds and winding down to the frogs and crickets is the best. Incredibly thankful we live on a large pond that is full of life.

10. THE CHANGING LANDSCAPE

Although we aren’t typically used to the white stuff in April here in lower Michigan, I still find this scene out my back door to be so breathtaking. Love the sunrises before the leaves bud.  So crazy that this snow came and went so fast and yesterday I was barefoot in my yard. #puremichigan
